American gain, an alternative fuels and renewable energy development and distribution company, has hired Ty Severson and Ashley Duplechien as new Business Development Managers for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). They will spearhead the growth and optimization of US Gain’s RNG project portfolio, identifying new opportunities to connect supply to end uses beyond transportation.
“The pricing of the LCFS credit and RIN market has resulted in RNG supply being primarily distributed as transportation fuel,” said Bryan Nudelbacher, US Gain Vice President of Business Development for RNG. “However, we are starting to see this shift in focus. More and more organizations are turning to RNG for voluntary carbon reductions or to use as feedstock to make other low carbon fuels, resulting in increased demand for RNG as a fuel source alternative.
Severson brings more than 20 years of experience in the energy and renewable energy markets to US Gain. He began his career at Cargill where he focused on power trading, origination and utility relations in the Southeast market. He also led new product development for Cargill’s energy and dielectric fluids business, focusing on the Eastern Interconnection utilities. He then accepted a position as Vice President of Energy Marketing at National Renewable Solutions. Most recently, Severson was the former head of renewable energy at Avant Energy.
“The RNG space today looks a lot like electricity markets after the deregulation of the late 1990s to early 2000s,” Severson notes. “He hasn’t been fully defined, which means he’s full of opportunities. I’m excited to help grow US Gain’s footprint in this space while advancing the industry and positively impacting our climate.
Duplechien began her career in alternative fuels at Trillium as a marketing specialist, then rose to head of marketing and development, leading marketing and communications efforts, charitable giving initiatives, internal sales process and public policies. From there, Duplechien changed roles, becoming manager and senior director of business development. In these roles, she focused on heavy-duty fleet solutions for the US market, including CNG, RNG, electric and hydrogen. Most recently, Duplechien was the General Manager of Client Solutions at Trillium.
“In this market in particular, it is crucial to be recognized as a competent and trustworthy partner. In my previous roles, I always took a customer-centric approach,” shares Duplechien. “I look forward to the opportunity to help grow an already impressive volume of business while joining a culture that I consider to be second to none. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of the US Gain team.
“We are excited to welcome Ty and Ashley to our team as they will be instrumental in securing the continued development of RNG and kidnapping deals,” said Mike Koel, President of US Gain. “Combining their unique perspectives with a proven track record, they will be indispensable resources for farmers and energy developers.”
