Super Eagles player Taiwo Awoniyi earns college degree in business management

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is a graduate of Buckinghamshire New University, Wycombe, UK, after earning a degree in business management.

The latest development was confirmed by Europe-based Nigerian sports journalist Ojora Babatunde, who took to Twitter to congratulate Awoniyi on Wednesday.

“Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi @taiwoawoniyi18 holds a degree in business management from Buckinghamshire New University, Wycombe,” the tweet read.

The 25-year-old poacher was awarded the diploma days after his Super Eagles team-mate and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi graduated with a business and management degree.

Ndidi, who started the course in 2019, told Football Daily: “Yes, (I enjoyed it). I finished. I liked a 10 class course which can enroll me in a real university degree. .

He added: “It’s just to enlighten me on business, entrepreneurship and tourism too.”

Awoniyi started his senior career with Liverpool but didn’t register any appearances for the Reds.

He was loaned out to several clubs before moving to Germany with Union Berlin in 2021.

After a successful stint in Germany, Awoniyi returned to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window which just ended but has since struggled to get going.

He has scored just one goal in six matches this season.
