About the firm

A young, design-focused architecture firm in Northeast Los Angeles, with approximately 25-30 people, is seeking a Business Development Manager/Studio Manager to join their firm. This company has two studios, led by separate senior designers, one focused on high-end residential and the other on commercial development in Los Angeles. They also provide interior design and landscaping services and are developing a small development wing within the company.

About the role

You will work directly with the business owner to manage existing clients in the commercial real estate development sector, pursue leads for new work, lead the marketing of the business, engage and support staff, and lead recruitment efforts . This role is for a people person who can meet the challenges of a demanding client, support a positive and fulfilling office culture and help it grow. This role has the potential to have a big voice in directing the marketing and branding of the business and contribute immensely to the growth of this business. Internal and long-term growth of the business is desired as this business advances its brand awareness and slate of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships
  • Tracking leads for new work
  • Support the business owner by sharing business development activities
  • Help develop a marketing direction for the business with Owner, PR and Marketing consultants
  • Lead the hiring and management of marketing professionals, as needed and with owner approval
  • Responsible for general recruitment of the firm
  • Engage the company in industry events, including presenting at conferences
  • Support and manage office staff
  • Support a positive office culture

Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of business development experience in the AEC industry, ideally in the Los Angeles market
  • Excellent communication and tact skills
  • Experience in managing business development clients
  • “Social person” who enjoys engaging with architects and designers as much as they enjoy engaging with clients
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Experience supporting staff, recruiting and mentoring in the AEC industry
