HMRA appoints Business Development Director | business stories


(August 19, 2022) Laura Blair has been named the new Director of Business Development for the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association.

“Laura will work with OCHMRA to contribute to the association’s mission of connecting industry interests through outreach, education and partnerships with the goal of serving as a connector for hospitality. “said Susan Jones, executive director of the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association.

Specifically, Blair will participate in the association’s annual trade show, all other OCHMRA events and marketing efforts.

She brings a myriad of experience and education to her new position, including working with the National Association of Underwriters (NALU) in Washington, D.C. as National Director of Community Relations helping its 140,000 members carry out charitable work. in their respective communities.

Blair has won accolades for a program called “Our America Matters” and received letters from two sitting US presidents for his volunteer work.

She also worked in Montgomery County for the local cable company as Community Relations Manager, where she focused on channel launches and related charity ties.

Blair moved to Ocean City four years ago and most recently worked for the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, helping with membership efforts.

Blair is a graduate of American University in Washington, DC, where she earned her graduate degree in public communications.

Founded in 1971, OCHMRA is a local non-profit trade association that brings together the hospitality industry in Ocean City.
