Debasish Nanda Takes Head of Business Development at CIL


New Delhi: Sri. Debasish Nanda took over as Business Development Manager of Coal India Ltd. He worked as executive director (gas) at Indian Oil before becoming director-BD at CIL.

Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from UCE Burla, Sambalpur University, Shri. Nanda graduated in Production Engineering from REC Rourkela and has a Masters in International Business from IIFT, New Delhi.

Sri. Nanda joined Indian Oil in 1988 as a management trainee in the marketing division and spent 11 years in the marketing of Servo Lubricants. Subsequently, he joined the business development group in 1999. He made a stint in business development activities including expansion of overseas lubrication business, POL exports, establishment of subsidiaries of Indian Oil, etc before joining Indian Oil’s gas business in 2009.

Sri. Nanda ran Indian Oil’s ‘Natural Gas’ business, which had a turnover of over Rs. 20,000 crore. He has developed many robust strategies to increase Indian Oil’s penetration in the natural gas sector.

He has also held various liaison positions with MoP&NG, PNGRB and other industry bodies. He chaired the U.S.-India Energy Working Group, led the work on pipeline RLNG exports to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and was granted aggregator status for HP-HT domestic gas for urea plants.
