Position Summary

With support from business unit leaders, the Head of R&D and other functions related to product evaluation and development, the Business Development Manager helps research, identify, evaluate and negotiate commercial agreements with external partners that can contribute to continued growth. from Janssen PMP.

The Business Development Manager is a member of the Janssen PMP R&D team and reports to the R&D Department Manager.

One of the key roles of the R&D team is to provide essential support for the development of new products and technologies and the evaluation of potential licensing opportunities. The Business Development Manager will directly contribute to achieving the objective of the R&D team. Interactions are necessary both inside and outside Janssen PMP.

Essential functions and profile

  • Search for new products and technologies to apply to fruit and vegetables post-harvest (or in the field) with an emphasis on materials from nature: Participation in trade fairs and conferences, partnerships with specialized consultants, documentary research, networking within the actors of the sector and all the stakeholders concerned.
  • Negotiates and enters into agreements to secure access to such opportunities that can add value to the PMP business in the short and long term. The agreements to be negotiated are the non-disclosure agreement, material transfer agreement, evaluation and option agreement, license agreement, etc.
  • Responsible for collecting external market data and internal market information. Ensures the analysis of this market information to identify trends, opportunities and put into perspective the identified business opportunities.
  • In charge of developing a preliminary activity forecast for each identified innovation. This forecast will be based on marketing, regulatory and technical assumptions.
  • Contributes to strategic plans from market insights and creates compelling market analysis presentations.
  • Serves as the primary interface between innovation partners and internal departments.
  • Actively participates in formal projects as core team members or project manager. Janssen PMP projects are managed according to FPX (Flawless Project Execution) guidelines.

Favorite profile

  • Level of study: University degree in a relevant discipline combining business and science in the field of agriculture, agronomy, biology, chemistry or biochemistry
  • Ideally has business development experience in the plant protection and biopesticides industry or similar
  • Experience in researching new technologies, particularly in the field of “green” materials
  • Familiar with intellectual property management
  • Good established network in related field and excellent at building long-term relationships
  • Curious, structured and creative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent English and ideally Dutch and Spanish
  • Business development mindset and able to operate with some level of independence.
  • Flexible, enterprising and able to perform in a demanding environment.

Location

An open but regular presence in Beerse (Belgium) is essential
