About the role

The Business Development Manager will focus on fostering and maintaining strategic partnerships that align with GGLO’s mission and values, leading to the acquisition of projects that support our growth in the Southern California region and continue to elevate our design reputation. Through an understanding of our business, processes, design capabilities and design aspirations, the Business Development Manager will embody our design philosophy as an integral part of the Los Angeles community; therefore, an in-depth knowledge of current market conditions and opportunities in the Los Angeles and Southern California areas is required to be successful in this role. The Business Development Manager will report to and work closely with the Business Development Manager working directly with GGLO directors, senior executives, marketing staff and others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

New business development

  • Actively collaborate with GGLO leaders to develop market sector business development strategies to achieve company goals.
  • Plan and execute approaches to win new work.
  • Identify and network with potential new business contacts, enhancing GGLO’s brand and reputation.
  • Research and identify new potential customers, identify decision makers within their organizations.
  • Initiate new customer relationships within our market or geography to create a strong pipeline of opportunities.
  • Participate in internal reviews of go/no go projects.
  • Coordinate meetings between client decision makers and appropriate GGLO managers.

Customer relationship and loyalty

  • Collaborate with GGLO leaders and Director of Business Development to foster new customer relationships that align with the company’s mission and values, leading to new projects.
  • Work with management to maintain strong ties with current and past clients, helping to manage relationships for future projects and referrals.

Business development planning

  • Actively participate in strategic business development planning each year.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to research and attend market sector industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide reports on market and creative trends.
  • Present and consult with the Director of Business Development and senior leaders on specific real estate development models in Los Angeles and Southern California.
  • Help clarify the company’s unique position in Southern California and tailor conversations, safeguards, and strategies to highlight/enhance those strengths/opportunities.

Management and Research

  • Submit regular progress reports on business development activities and lead bi-weekly meetings with the Business Development Manager and appropriate managers.
  • Professionally represent GGLO and demonstrate a commitment to the overall vision, goals and timelines set by management.
  • Work with Marketing Coordinators and Director of Marketing to respond to RFIs/P/Qs, including brand materials for presentations and meetings.

  • Organized and detail oriented; motivated and proactive; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to make sound decisions, change priorities and solve problems effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently, in small and large groups, and with a variety of working styles.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • More than 10 years of experience in sales or business development. Industry A/E/C preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry sector and ability to successfully manage business development objectives in the Los Angeles and Southern California areas.
  • Ability to research, identify and foster relevant business relationships that lead to new business.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Must demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required. Adobe InDesign experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CRM software to track opportunities and relationships is required. Experience with Deltek VantagePoint CRM is preferred.
  • Consistent ability to work in person at the GGLO Los Angeles office and to travel on business as required.
  • Authorization to work legally in the United States.
