Gabellini Sheppard Associates, an internationally renowned architecture and interior design firm, is seeking a resourceful, energetic and highly organized individual to lead the development of our business.

The successful candidate is multitasking, self-starter, able to work productively in a team and independently, and is comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, writing and composition skills, and an eye for graphic design and layout. The ideal candidate possesses a high degree of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills. Graphic design a plus. Experience in a high-end architecture or interior design firm only.

One of the goals of this position will be to continue to build the scale, profitability and work of the studio by supporting the studio team in finding, maintaining and creating new business, from strategic research to meeting initial, through contract negotiation and closings. The individual is expected to be well connected and able to identify, pursue and earn employment opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Business development strategy. Work with Partners, Associates and the Commercial Director to develop strategic long-term business development goals by tracking interest typologies and evaluating results. Review of past efforts to create additional success and find new solutions to resolve obstacles.
  • Requests for Proposals and Contracts. Coordination of all incoming RFPs, including RFP summaries, fee projections, creation of accompanying visuals using standard company templates, creation of final contracts and contract negotiations in collaboration with partners, associates and the commercial director. Maintain templates for corporate summaries (including necessary updates for staffing, expertise, etc.) as well as templates for proposals following active typologies.
  • Outreach and clientele Create and maintain a list of potential clients after alignment with the senior team on client typology and qualifications. Proactively engage prospects on this list via email introductions followed by in-person and video conferencing networking, arranging introductory meetings with partners, and schedule tracking. Provide weekly customer summaries to senior team for review and feedback.
  • Marketing cooperation. Maintain a quality relationship with the Marketing Coordinator providing oversight, guidance to ensure alignment between business development and marketing initiatives. (eg: targeted outreach by the Business Development Manager is coordinated with social media content initiated by the Marketing Coordinator, etc.) Ensure visual materials are consistent across both disciplines and use approved design standards by the company.


  • Minimum of five years of business development experience for architecture and interior design firms, including writing, coordinating and editing proposals and presentations
